Immunotherapy for chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) with polyps

For female patients with prolonged, severe disease despite treatment and surgical procedures. Combination of medication and cortisone nasal spray (biologics). Successful in other conditions such as bronchial asthma.

Procedure

Diagnosis and suitability assessment: comprehensive examination and imaging. Assessment of the burden of symptoms, medical history and suitability. Possibly laboratory investigations and allergy testing.

Treatment options

Starting treatment: first administration of the antibody under medical supervision. Subsequent doses at four-week intervals.

Progress reviews: regular consultations to assess treatment success. Discussion of possible side effects.

Immunotherapy offers promising options for patients who have had limited success with conventional approaches.
