Implantable hearing systems

Implantable hearing systems are crucial when conventional hearing aids do not provide adequate support, due to various causes such as chronic middle ear infections or loss of nerve cell function.
Procedure
Individual hearing rehabilitation plan developed in collaboration with the patient. A test headband simulates sound transmission from an implantable hearing aid. If the trial is successful, surgery is planned. Collaboration with various companies and systems.
Other information
There are various types:
Active middle ear implants (Vibrant Soundbridge): improvement of sound transmission through implants in the middle ear.
Bone conduction implants (Osia, Bonebridge): implants in the skull bone transmit sound directly to the inner ear. An alternative when hearing aid fittings are unsuccessful.
➔ Inner ear implants (cochlear implant – CI): implants in the inner ear, particularly for patients with loss of nerve cell function.
