Low-attaching, overly tight lip frenula often cause unsightly gaps between the teeth, and the gums may recede.
Reasons for treatment
An excessively broad, shortened tongue frenulum restricts tongue mobility. In children, this can impair speech development and food intake. Wherever possible, the procedure should be carried out before your son or daughter starts nursery.
Treatment options
Surgery: We correct the lip frenulum in an operation under local anaesthetic. When performed early, correction of the lip frenulum prevents the need for later orthodontic treatment, while tongue frenuloplasty prevents possible speech disorders or difficulties when eating.
