Changes in the laryngeal region

Treatment options

General anaesthesia or laser removal: Changes in the larynx are often removed under general anaesthesia. In some cases, a laser can also be used precisely. The choice depends on the type, size and location of the change.

Grasping forceps and scissors: Small instruments such as grasping forceps and scissors allow precise treatment under the operating microscope, with a focus on preserving vocal cord mobility.

After the procedure

Postoperative care: After surgery, the laryngeal region requires particularly careful postoperative care. Patients are often monitored as inpatients for a period of time to identify possible complications.

Voice rest: A period of voice rest is often recommended to promote healing of the vocal cord wound and prevent permanent deterioration in the voice due to scarring.

Regular follow-up examinations: Regular follow-up examinations take place after the procedure to assess voice quality and the progress of healing. This allows postoperative measures to be adjusted in good time.

Individual postoperative care depends heavily on the type of surgery performed, the patient’s needs and the specific requirements of the condition. Close cooperation with the treating doctor is crucial to achieve the best possible results and minimise potential complications.
